Forestry Trades Camp

Are you in Grade 10 or 11?

Are you curious about the trades? 

Do you like spending time outdoors?

Are you interested in receiving your Class 7 Driver’s license?

Would you like to get your Fire Extinguisher Certification?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then we have a great opportunity for you!!

Aspen View Public Schools has spaces available in our Forestry Trades Camp which runs from May 28-31 at Camp Wright on Narrow Lake.  The application deadline has been extended to Friday, May 24.

At this camp you will:

  • see forestry trades in action;
  • get hands-on experience with forestry trades such as Carpentry, Industrial Mechanics, Chainsaw training and more;
  • learn how to take the next steps in the achieving a journeyperson ticket of your chosen trade;
  • receive Class 7 Driver’s training and be tested on site;
  • receive your Fire Extinguisher Certification;
  • hear about the Registered Apprenticeship Training program (RAP) from a past graduate and learn how you can get involved;
  • take part in outdoor cooking where you will make your own dinner one evening over an open fire;
  • canoe and take part in forest survival activities and games;
  • arrive Tuesday, May 28 and leave Friday, May 31.  While at the camp you will stay in comfortable, warm cabins;
  • eat, and eat, and eat… we have an awesome cook that loves to feed all participants delicious comfort food;
  • get credits towards high school completion.

What does it cost? 

It’s free!  The program is sponsored through grants from our forest industry partners, Careers: The Next Generation, Rupertsland Institute, Forestry Futures Alliance and other agencies.
